A comprehensive Foot Health Check is the cornerstone of preventative care for your residents, dramatically reducing the risk of complications, falls, and hospital admissions. L&R Care Home Podiatry UK provides detailed, proactive assessments by HCPC-registered Podiatrists across the region, tailored specifically to your care home residents.
The Essential 4-Point Foot Health Check for CQC Compliance
|
1. Vital Circulatory Assessment (Foot Pulses Check) |
Early identification of circulation problems is crucial, especially for diabetics. We conduct detailed foot pulse checks to monitor blood flow and manage ulcer risk. |
|
2. Comprehensive Skin & Lesion Review |
Detailed inspection of all areas for corns, callus, swellings, and early lesions. Proactive management prevents minor issues from escalating into serious infections. |
|
3. Interdigital Inspection (Between Toes Check) |
Examination between the toes for hidden fungal infections (Athlete’s Foot), maceration, or pressure lesions that often go unnoticed but pose a high infection risk. |
|
4. In-Depth Nail & Structure Review |
Reviewing nail condition, alignment, and any deformities. Addresses issues like thickened, ingrown, or dystrophic nails that can cause pain and pressure damage. |
Proactive Foot Health: Reducing Risk, Increasing Quality of Life
Proactive foot health checks prevent the risks of falls and can detect a number of health conditions early.
If a resident needs to be referred elsewhere, our podiatrists will inform a member of staff at the time, and we will provide detailed treatment notes.
We ensure every resident receives timely, personalised, evidence-based treatment. We recommend visits every 6-8 weeks for all residents who have consented to treatment, allowing us to regularly review their foot health.

Trusted by Care Homes Across the UK
The service is superb timely, and the staff are so well experienced.
How often should our high-risk residents receive a Foot Health Check?
High-risk patients generally come under the care of the NHS Podiatrists. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t treat them if it is in their best interests.
Does this check cover diabetic foot screening requirements?
Diabetic foot checks need to be requested by the care home. The residents’ GP practice routinely covers diabetic foot checks; however, that isn’t always the case, so if needed, we can step in and provide that service.
What happens if a serious lesion or ulcer is detected during the check?
We will provide any necessary treatment at the time and then advise staff on whom the resident needs to be referred. If possible, we will refer the resident directly.
How do we integrate your clinical findings into our records?
All residents’ treatment notes will be sent directly to the care home.
